Jazz Alliance of Trinidad and Tobago offers a number of workshops and clinics to satisfy the education and development mandate of the organization

Workshops

Summer Holistic Jazz Workshop

The first annual Summer Holistic Jazz Workshop is designed to broaden the horizon of each student through (LLP) listening, learning and playing jazz music. Students will listen to a variety of lecturers lecture on different musical genre such as classical, opera, spiritual, blues, gospel, calypso and jazz. The learning of scales, chords & rhythm, which includes viewing videos of jazz masters. Students will play at jam sessions and interact with local, regional and international jazz musicians. Both students and lecturers will receive an excerpt from the "Calypso Real Book".

Clinics

Clinics are informal meetings with a guest musician, where questions are raised based on the musician's particular style and techniques. The musician will perform a piece not necessarily in its entirety, or demonstrate certain techniques for the audience to observe. The objective of the clinic is for the audience to learn and experience another approach to music from the guest musician.

Rhythm Stories

Rhythm Stories is a program designed especially for pre school and primary school kids. The program focuses on story telling with the infusion of rhythms, not only produced by the drums or percussion instruments, but also melodic instruments creating and shaping melodies that reflect the story being read in a rhythmic approach.
